1)Can you introduce yourself? And what is your job ?
I'm Manu, and I'm a radio host (Well... I think so).
2) How and why did you choose to work in music world and radio business?
I've been passionate about radio since I was about 7 years old. I was walking past a radio studio on my way to primary school and I was fascinated. It never left me again!
3) Have you seen the world of music evolve with social networks?
I'm no expert. Through my prism, I mainly see the evolution of the ease of access to music. Through platforms like Spotify and connected speakers for example.
Social networks play an important role in making it easier for creators to showcase their work. But the offer is huge and I don't realize the real impact on a large scale. On a small scale, within communities, yes, I think that the networks bring them a lot.
4) Do social networks have a direct impact on radio?
Not really. The radio is strong, it's simply a new playground for creators.
But no study to my knowledge has shown a direct correlation between a strong position on social networks and the audience.I would even say, from experience, that the reverse is often true.
Some shows will be in « TT » (top tweet) on Twitter every day but will not have a larger audience. Which makes me think that social networks are not "audience recruiters » On the other hand, they help the notoriety, and bringing original content undoubtedly makes it possible to make discover a program.
5) Do you think social media are an opportunity or a threat to radio?
Radio lived very well without. Like télévision. Like music. But being there today is obvious. Our listeners are there every day, let's meet them by offering them original content
6) What have been the effects of social media on artists?
Again I am not an expert in this area. I think that allowed them to express themselves, to develop their creations, to offer content. But again, the offer being huge, I think few people really take advantage of it. But for an artist, that undoubtedly makes it possible to be known, to attract the attention of a producer etc …
7) What is the futur of the radio since the growth of social media.
I don’t think there is correlation between social medias and the radio. They are just a new playground for promotion. For me, it’s not about the futur of the radio. It’s two complementary things and different. They don’t live together. Radio is using social medias to produce content, advertise and also to have some visibility. So it’s benefical for the radio. Quarantine was the proof. We’ve proposed original content and peaple are looking 10 times more. They are much more connected.
