Today is about the meeting of the famous classical artist Beethoven and electronic music. These kind of musical creations have become popular with the possibility of mass distribution on social medias such as Youtube, Soundcloud, Spotify or Deezer. This allows users to discover different types of music they are not used to listen.

Yes, I’m a dancer and even if I love the sound of piano, I love dancing in nightclubs on electronic music all Friday or Saturday night!

You know what? the two can work together and make an interesting mix! Who would've believed that?

Everything does not separate electronic music from classical music: there are many, contemporary composers or DJs to tackle Beethoven's repertoire to show new facets.

There are different ways for electronic music to appropriate other musical genres: obviously samples, but also remixes, which retain the original identity of a title while offering a new version. Some artists have chosen to immerse Beethoven in the digital worlds using contemporary instruments.

The proof in five titles, where machines have sometimes replaced symphonic orchestras. Classical music is modernized, transformed and reaches a new target. All this changes are making possible thanks to the social medias like Youtube where artists can share their new projects. More over, they can share it on Souncloud and Spotify to reach a diverse audience who will like to discover that kind of original titles!

1. Pierre Henry, “the Tenth Symphony » of Beethoven

In 1979, Pierre Henry imagined Beethoven’s Tenth Symphony, never created. His creation is made with the nine existing symphonies.

2. The Other Frohman, “Daft Punk vs. Beethoven. Technologic Sonata”

The Other Frohman confronts two worlds, the one of classical music represented by Beethoven, and the one of Daft Punk. The robotic voice of the French touch duo bounces on the piano. It’s a strange but fascinating work! And to be honest while I was listening to it, I wanted to dance!! ☺

3. Giorgio Moroder and Brian Evans, “Lonely Lovers”

Here, the disco king and Donna Summer’s partner, Giorgio Moroder, has fun with Beethoven’s “Fur Elise”. The wise side of the original music disappears and is replaced by a retro side.

4. Walter Murphy and the Big Apple Band (Soulwax remix), « A fifth of Beethoven »

A title based on Beethoven's “Fifth Symphony”. A catchy and powerful title that makes you want to dance! We even forget the classic origin of this song! Love it!

5. Diplo, “Rock Steady”

Beethoven’s “Fifth Symphony” in Introduction for this rap. An original choice that appears obvious when we listen to the song.

I hope that you like listening to all of the titles, I'm happy to show you that Beethoven can be remixed.

See you soon for new not-so classic musical discoveries! ☺
