Hello to all my readers,
As you know now, every week I will write an article about a group or a singer from rock. I want you to know this style better and to start listening to it. I also want you to understand the power of social media on music.
So, this week I’m gonna introduce the rock music with FFF, which means “Fédération française de fonck”.
I'm sure you don't know this band, but I hope you enjoy it
Fédération française de fonck, or FFF, is a French fusion rock band, whose musical style mixes different styles, mainly funk and rock.
The style of the band is a mix of funk and rock. This is where the word "fonck" came from. They are a fusion of these two genres in several songs. We can feel African-American influences (James Brown, Jimi Hendrix, Sly and the Family Stone, George Clinton, Bootsy Collins, Prince), and also Caribbean influences in their music as well as in their lyrics.
Marco Prince (vocals) and Nicolas "Niktus" (bass) played together in the suburbs of Paris in the 1980s. They meet Yarol Poupaud (guitar) in 1987 and form FFF. They want to combine funk music with rock. They will be joined by Krichou Montieux (drums), Philippe " Félix " Niel (keyboard) and Philippe Herpin (saxophone), former member of the band Marquis de Sade.
In July 2007, FFF performs at the Solidays in its original formation (with the exception of Philippe Herpin), for a single date, and offers the best of a repertoire that marked the 1990s. They realised that many nostalgic fans were waiting for their return.
I wanted to talk to you about this group especially during the health crisis we're going through right now. This band, little known as it is, uses the internet and social networks.
(I'm lucky to know the guitarist of the band who is struggling with new technologies, but he decided to get involved too!
Recently, in the space of a month, they presented 4 lives on Instagram. Unbelievable isn't it? These networks allow you to follow our idols live as if you were at a concert.
Social networks, here particularly Instagram makes a virtual life possible.
At the end of the last live, last Monday, Yarol Poupaud thanks these platforms "We can never thank enough the social networks that help us communicate with our fans".
I'm showing no popularity gain through social networks.
I show the support that social networks bring to artists and internet users.
